Weather stations

The department has a network of 191 automatic weather stations and radars throughout Western Australia. These stations provide timely, relevant, and local weather data to assist growers and regional communities in making more-informed decisions.

The station data includes air temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, with stations also measuring incoming solar radiation to calculate evaporation.

The department’s Weather App and website are trusted sources of weather information. Alongside data from our own network, the department also hosts automatic weather station data from third parties including the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Water Corporation, Harvey Water and Pardoo Beef.
