Pastoral rangeland condition and trends
The department produces annual pastoral rangeland condition reports, based on data and information collected and assessed by officers of the department. Information is provided at regional and Land Conservation District level, not at pastoral-lease level.
The department monitors the vegetation condition of pastoral rangelands in Western Australia and prepares annual reports on pastoral condition for the Commissioner of Soil and Land Conservation to meet legislative requirements set out in the Land Administration Act 1997.
Since 2020, full reports are produced every 5 years that detail the state, trend and risk of decline of vegetation condition in the pastoral rangelands using information derived from both remotely sensed and on-ground data. In the intervening years, shorter reports will be produced based on remotely sensed vegetation cover.
The reports below are provided as published at the time. Note that the style and content have changed over time to meet the needs of other agencies using this information.
