SclerotiniaLM

Sclerotinia is a fungal disease that infects most broad leaf crop and pasture species but not cereals. The SclerotiniaLM app assists growers with foliar fungicide application decisions during the bloom stage to reduce the impact of sclerotinia canopy infection in lupin.

Features

  • Multiple options allow the user to enter parameters that best reflect their circumstances.
  • Determines the likely disease severity, yield loss and economic return from the parameters entered.
  • Considers complex interactions that affect the disease.
  • Can compare different management strategies.
  • The user can email a paddock report to another person, such as a grower or farm consultant.
  • Alternate views of predicted results to suit the user’s preference.
  • Available for iPhones/iPads, android phones and tablets.

About the app

SclerotiniaLM is a decision support tool that assists growers and consultants to manage sclerotinia canopy infection in lupin crops in Australia. The app accounts for some of the major factors that influence yield loss due to sclerotinia infection in your paddocks.

SclerotiniaLM takes account of costs, yield benefits, grain price, and seasonal conditions to give the best case, worst case, and most likely estimates of fungicide control.

The management app allows you to compare the likely profitability of fungicide applications, with no disease treatment at all.

The user can specify factors relating to paddock selection, variety, seasonal conditions, prices, and management options so the output relates to their cropping circumstance.

Sclerotinia is an unpredictable disease and highly influenced by weather conditions which are considered in the app.

The management app will give growers and consultants more confidence in decisions about whether to invest in spraying for the disease.

SclerotiniaLM does not account for all the factors that can affect sclerotinia canopy infection, so information provided by this tool should be considered as a guide to possible outcomes. SclerotiniaLM is not intended for controlling basal sclerotinia in lupin crops. Infections that occur at or below the soil surface are generally not reduced by foliar fungicide applications made during flowering.

SclerotiniaLM complements the SclerotiniaCM app, which aids in sclerotinia disease management decisions during the flowering stage of canola.
