SheepLinks Program

The SheepLinks program was developed in partnership with Meat & Livestock Australia to increase the profitability and resilience of the Western Australian sheep industry.

SheepLinks is a program designed to underpin the future prosperity of the sheep industry supply chain in Western Australia through a series of projects. The goal of SheepLinks is to enhance financial resilience and industry growth. 

SheepLinks involves projects designed to assist the livestock industry deal with emerging challenges including:  

  • variable seasons 
  • changing markets  
  • environmental impacts.  

The first phase of the program commenced in 2021 and is expected to run until 2026.

  • FEED365

    Creating resilient pasture/ forage systems for all-year round grazing in WA’s wheatbelt region, enabling farmers to increase livestock returns with minimal supplementary feeding. 

  • FutureSheep

    Investigating how producers in key sheep producing regions of WA can adapt farming strategies with the impact of a drying climate.

  • Objective carcase measurement feedback

    Assisting WA producers with understanding carcase feedback, improving carcase quality, and hit market specifications.
