We recognise the important role that the community plays in supporting the sustainable management of our agricultural resources and protection of our environment by reporting suspicious activities to DPIRD to investigate.
What should I report?
We are interested in any information related to illegal or suspicious agricultural and biosecurity matters including sale, importation and movement of plants, animals (including bees), agricultural items and produce.
Examples might include suspected:
- importation of a plant that is banned in WA
- movement of livestock without following national identification and traceability rules
- movement of plants or products out of a Quarantine Area.
- online sale of exotic species that are not allowed to be kept in WA
- fraudulent documentation relating to biosecurity requirements or other import declarations
- hiding of plants or animals brought into WA through our air, sea or land borders.
If you have seen anything that doesn’t look or sound quite right, the best thing you can do is report it.
What information should I include in my report?
Any information you provide about suspicious or illegal activity could be valuable.
Before making a report, make a note of:
- what type of equipment you saw being used
- Note the make and model of cars and trucks, registration numbers, and descriptions.
- what they were doing
- who they were
- Did you hear or know any of their names, or names of any related business or premises?
- when it happened, including the time and date
- where it happened
- Note the nearest known landmark or intersection of the closest road to help pinpoint the location of the activity.
We appreciate you providing everything you can to help fill in the picture. Every detail is important.
AgWatch reports are treated in strict confidence.
Do not approach anyone you think is involved in illegal activity.
By reporting suspicious biosecurity and agriculture related activities, you will be helping us protect WA's valuable agricultural industries and our environment from biosecurity threats.
