Weather stations

The department has a network of 191 automatic weather stations and radars throughout Western Australia. These stations provide timely, relevant, and local weather data to assist growers and regional communities in making more-informed decisions.

The station data includes air temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, with most stations also measuring incoming solar radiation to calculate evaporation.

The department's weather application includes an easy-to-read, drop-down summary of current data for each of the department’s weather stations and Bureau of Meteorology radar information.

The dashboard enables farmers, consultants, and other users to capture and compare a range of weather data all on one page. The site allows users to select a range of dates to graph, compare and analyse data.
