Agriculture Western Australia Ex-employees Association

The Agriculture Western Australia Ex-Employees Association was established to help former employees stay connected, share memories, and celebrate the ongoing story of WA’s agricultural achievements.

Whether you worked in research, technical services, or administration, if you were part of the Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA), this is your community.

Staying connected – celebrating our shared legacy

Established in 2001, the Association held its first AGM in March 2002, bringing together former department staff from across the years and the State.

What started as a small get-together has grown into a network of almost 200 members who enjoy catching up, sharing stories, and keeping up with what’s happening in the sector today.

For just $25 lifetime membership, you can join this large group of like-minded former colleagues and friends — and stay part of the community that shaped WA’s agricultural legacy.

What we do

From field trips and lunches to the simple pleasure of a familiar face — the Association offers a space to celebrate friendships and achievements that defined your time at DAFWA.

The Association hosts a range of social and informative gatherings throughout the year, including:

  • annual lunch – recently this has been at the Herdsman Lake Tavern (February/March).
  • winter meet-up – an informative event around June, often outside Perth.
  • Annual General Meeting and lunch – held in October with a guest speaker from the agrifood industry.

Partners are always welcome. Typically between 40 to 50 members attend each event.

Each catch-up offers great conversation, laughter, and the chance to reconnect with old mates.

With your membership, you’ll also receive:

  • regular email updates about upcoming events, departmental news, and stories from members
  • The Association newsletter, highlighting recent activities and milestones
  • opportunities to be a volunteer mentor through our collaboration with DPIRD’s mentoring program, GROW, helping to guide the next generation of agricultural professionals.
