Baits, poisons and toxins (baits) for vertebrate animal pests are widely used in agriculture and to protect Western Australia's wildlife and environment. The management of Western Australia’s vertebrate pests such as rabbits, foxes, wild dogs, feral pigs and pest birds relies on the use of these baits.
People who use baits are responsible for their safe use. Misuse can result in animal welfare issues and harm to non-target animals, and human and environmental health. Therefore, legislative standards are necessary to ensure that everyone continues to benefit from access to vertebrate bait, poison and toxin use into the future.
