Recreational fishing at the Houtman Abrolhos Islands

Recreational fishing is a popular activity at the Abrolhos, providing important social and economic benefits to the community.

All visitors traveling to the Abrolhos by boat must notify the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) before entering the Abrolhos fish habitat protection area (FHPA). You can notify DPIRD of your travel plans to the Abrolhos using the online notification form. 

Visitors to the Abrolhos who wish to take part in recreational or charter-based fishing need to be aware of the current fishing rules as well as boat, possession, and bag and size limits for the Abrolhos Islands. The rules are available on the fishing rules website and in the recreational fishing guide.
