What can I record using FishCatchWA™?

Using the FishCatchWA™ tool, you can:

  • record your demersal catch quickly and easily
  • get insights on your demersal catch
  • provide real-time data and directly contribute to the science.

The voluntary digital reporting tool is only for recording key demersal scalefish species caught within the West Coast bioregion, including:

  • pink snapper
  • WA dhufish
  • baldchin groper
  • breaksea cod.

FishCatchWA™ was tested with fisher focus groups (including Recfishwest) to ensure it is simple and easy for recreational fishers to record their demersal catch.

The tool complements the existing recreational catch monitoring program at the department and is part of the WA Government’s $10 million support package to boost the recovery of demersal scalefish stocks in the West Coast bioregion.
