Use MyPestGuide Crops online to quickly identify and report common pests and potential exotic species, and diseases of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and course-grains.

How to use MyPestCrops online
Use MyPestGuide Crops online to compare what you have observed in your crop with a database of potential pests.
To identify a pest in your crop, filter the list of potential pests and select the relevant crop, damage, pest and size to reduce the number of likely pests displayed onscreen. After you have filtered your selection to a manageable number of options, click on each potential pest image displayed to open a pest summary window with detailed information that you can compare with your pest or disease issue. Click on headings in the window to expand or contract information. To scroll through the images in the pest summary window, click on the arrows either side of the image or the dots below the image. Close the individual pest summary window and return to the home window by clicking the ‘x’ in the top right corner of the pest summary window.
To change filter options, click on the filter line and select a new option.
You can also use the search function to search pests by their scientific or common name and words used in the description, damage, and life cycle sections of the pest summaries. Click ‘Search’ for a full-text search for records that contains the words you typed in the search field.
When finished, clear your filter/search parameters by clicking on the filter/search summary buttons that appear above the search box.
To report a pest, click ‘Create report’ in the menu of MyPestGuide Crops online webpage or click the image of the relevant pest to open the information card and click the ‘Create report’ button. This will open the MyPestGuide ‘Create report’ form. Log in, complete the form, then click ‘Send’.
The department will receive your report, identify the organism, reply to your device, and map community pest detections online.
You can also report a pest to the department by returning to the home page of MyPestGuide Crops online and click ‘Create report’ in the top menu field. This will open a new report form window. Complete the form, drag and drop your images into the form, check the location is correct, provide contact information and details about where and what you found to help the experts with identification, and click ‘Send report’.
If you do not wish to share your report, untick, ‘I agree to share my report’ box in the report window. This option may be useful to consultants if they are unsure whether their client wishes to share the information.
To prevent the community from viewing a report, untick ‘I agree to share my report’.
To see other pest reports and a map of pest detections on the MyPestGuide webpage, ensure your computer’s ‘physical location’ setting is turned on or accept ‘Allowed’ when asked.
Using the map filter, sort by relevance or date, and zoom the map in or out to the relevant location by using the‘-‘ and ‘+’ buttons.
