About the app
StripeRustWM accounts for the major factors that influence stripe rust severity in wheat. The user can specify factors relating to seasonal conditions, prices, and management options so the output relates to their cropping circumstance. Users can explore their options for control and understand the relative importance of each factor.
StripeRustWM helps you manage stripe rust disease in Australian wheat crops. StripeRustWM draws on several years of field trials and observations, as well as experimental data and expert knowledge from researchers and agronomists to forecast the likely result and economic return of spraying for this disease.
StripeRustWM considers costs, yield benefits, grain price and seasonal conditions to give you the best case, worst case and most likely estimates of fungicide control.
When using the app, it is important to have the current variety resistance rating for your variety.
Stripe rust is a difficult disease to predict, and the app considers that it is highly influenced by seasonal conditions.
StripeRustWM gives growers and consultants more confidence in decisions about whether to invest in spraying for the disease. It allows you to compare the likely profitability of different spray strategies.
The app has been shown to be very useful in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. Stripe rust is very sporadic in Western Australia, and the StripeRustWM will be useful for management of outbreaks in WA.
StripeRustWM complements the YellowSpotWM app, which aids in yellow spot (tan spot) disease management decisions in wheat.
