An exciting new agricultural data exchange hub Extrata® can assist primary producers and farm consultants to securely share and leverage farm data.
Using end-to-end data encryption and API technology, Extrata enables users to transfer data, from their various cloud platforms, to a third party. Once shared and analysed, this data can generate valuable insights that can inform farm management decisions and improve operational efficiencies.

The department's state-wide network of automatic weather stations and radars provide timely local weather data for growers and regional communities.
Attracting around 20,000 visitors a month, the Weather Stations platform includes a user-friendly website and app. The platform provides detailed information from over 300 weather stations across WA.
Users can access near real-time air temperature, humidity, rainfall, solar radiation, soil temperature, wind speed and direction data.

Decision support tools
To further assist producers with decision-making, a series of state-of-the-art tools and calculators have been developed. These include:

API gateway
The department's Application Programming Interface (API) gateway is a free service for producers and industry. Registered users can securely access data from the department's APIs including, Weather, Radar and Science.
Data retrieved from the APIs can be embedded into other applications, to enrich a user’s own data and provide insights based on historical and current conditions.
