Forms for importing livestock and livestock products

Livestock being imported into Western Australia must meet import conditions and be certified as eligible for entry to ensure the State remains free from pests and diseases present in other parts of Australia.

The state of WA is free of some diseases and pests that are present in other areas of Australia. To maintain this biosecurity status, livestock being imported into WA must meet import conditions and be certified as eligible for entry. These import conditions are determined by livestock species, origin of the livestock and the WA destination of the livestock. The species-specific LB1 Health Certificate provides information on the required import conditions and declares adherence to the import conditions.

Exporting producers and veterinarians are required to make declarations on the disease status of livestock being imported into WA, and the pre- and post-entry testing and treatment protocols. Declarations from importing producers are also required before importation for post-entry testing and treatment protocols.

The LB1 health certificates specific to each livestock species and commodity are used to record this information.

LB1 livestock health certificates

The LB1 is species or commodity-specific and consists of 3 parts.

Part 1: Consignment, entry and destination details

  • Records information regarding the livestock, exporting property and destination property

Part 2: Livestock health and property biosecurity declarations

Requires signed declarations from:

  • The exporting owner/manager for each of the import conditions as well as an overall declaration.
  • A registered veterinarian or authorised government inspector for tests/treatments/inspections that they have undertaken.
  • The importing owner/manager agreeing to meet all of WA’s post-entry conditions.

Part 3: Livestock import requirements

  • Provides the details on the species-specific import conditions for livestock entering WA. These import conditions may include testing, treating and inspection of the livestock pre-entry, on entry or post-entry into WA.
