Sclerotinia CM

Sclerotinia is a plant pathogenic fungus and can cause a disease called white mold if conditions are conducive. SclerotiniaCM is designed to assist growers to reduce the impact of sclerotinia stem rot in canola.

About the app

SclerotiniaCM accounts for the major factors that influence sclerotinia stem rot severity. The user can specify factors relating to paddock history, seasonal conditions, prices and management options so the output relates to their cropping circumstance.

Sclerotinia CM helps you manage Sclerotinia stem rot disease in Australia. The app draws on several years of field trials and observations, as well as experimental data, and expert knowledge from contributors throughout Australia, to forecast the likely result and economic return of spraying for this disease.

SclerotiniaCM takes account of costs, yield benefits, grain price, and seasonal condition to give you the best case, worst case and most likely estimates of fungicide control.

The management app allows you to compare the likely profitability of different disease management strategies including 1 fungicide spray versus 2 fungicide applications, with no disease treatment at all.

Sclerotinia stem rot is an unpredictable disease and highly influenced by weather conditions which are considered in the app.

The management app will give growers and consultants more confidence in decisions about whether to invest in spraying for the disease.

SclerotiniaCM complements the UCI BlacklegCM management app, which aids in disease management decisions during the flowering stage of canola.

To spray or not to spray – the value of the SclerotiniaCM app video

In the video, Ciara Beard and Dr Art Diggle (DPIRD) discuss Sclerotinia stem rot in canola and share some tips for using the SclerotiniaCM App when making fungicide spraying decisions.
