Livestock owners and beekeepers must register and adhere to livestock identification and movement requirements.

All livestock imported into WA must abide by import conditions set out by legislation and regulations.
Permits issued under the BAM Act are required to import and keep exotic animals in WA, except for exempt animals, such as stock and common domestic pets.

Goods imported into WA are subject to Quarantine restrictions.
An import permit is required to import pest/s or items that are known to be infected with pest/s into WA.
A Notice of Intent to import is required for the entry of a potential carrier of pest/s into WA.
If moving personal effects into WA, a movement of personal goods declaration must be completed.
Permits are required to possess and use registered S7 pesticides such as 1080, PAPP or strychnine products for pest animal control on leasehold or freehold land in WA.

The department maintains animal health surveillance and disease control programs to support Western Australia's high animal health status. These programs rely on the ongoing support and engagement of producers and private veterinarians.

You may fill in the details on the forms electronically, however, they must be printed out for signing and returned to the Brands Registration Office (via email or post) for verification and processing.

Livestock and livestock products importation forms
Exporting producers and veterinarians are required to make declarations on the disease status of livestock being imported into WA and the pre and post-entry testing and treatment protocols. Declarations from importing producers are also required before importation for post-entry testing and treatment protocols.

Declared pest application forms and moving a potential carrier
Check the Western Australian Organism List to see whether a permit is required to keep a declared pest.
If it's assigned to the restricted keeping category, a keeping permit is required and, similarly, a permit is required to breed or cultivate.

Importing goods and potential carriers
Import permit application
An import permit is required to import:
- a prohibited organism,
- a permitted organism that requires a permit,
- a potential carrier that requires a permit or
- an unlisted organism.
Applications for a permit to import organisms in the restricted keeping category must include a copy of the restricted keeping permit.
The department may issue or refuse a permit and impose any necessary conditions on the permit.
Risk assessments to inform a permit decision may require some time. Please do not make bookings for the transport of organisms requiring an import permit until the permit is issued.

Use this form to apply for a permit to import the product/s or organism/s detailed in your application. Submit with required fee.
Anyone importing an organism or potential carrier in accordance with a permit, or under published import requirements must provide at least 24 hours' notice.

Persons importing an organism or potential carrier in accordance with an import permit must provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice, in an approved manner, of the item and place of entry.

A commercial carrier transporting any declared pest or prescribed potential carrier into WA must provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice, in an approved manner, of the item and place of entry.
A person importing a cargo container and its contents may facilitate the clearance of that container by giving an inspector notice of the import and satisfying the inspector as to the contents no less than one working day before the expected time of the importation.
A person importing a cargo container and its contents will need to fill out and submit the Notice of Intent to import a declared pest or prescribed potential carrier into WA form.

A person entering WA via vessel and arriving at a seaport may provide a minimum of one working day’s notice of the expected time and place of entry, and must keep any organisms or potential carriers aboard the vessel until further advised. This is instead of presenting the vessel and any organism or potential carrier for inspection at the nearest inspection point.

Declaration for movement of personal goods
Goods imported into WA are subject to Quarantine restrictions.
If moving into WA, a declaration for movement of goods must be completed, in conjunction with your removals company.

Registered pesticide permits
Permit applications can be emailed to RP.applications@dpird.wa.gov.au or sent by mail to Registered permit applications, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Locked Bag 4, Bentley Delivery Centre WA 6983.
Note: permit applications lodged at regional offices will be forwarded via email to the central authorising officer for processing.
